The research instruments were individual anthropometric measurements for the calculations of Body Mass Index (BMI) and Body Adiposity Index (BAI). For the analysis and interpretation of the data obtained, the statistical program used was SPSS 20.0. The results of the BMI of the sample were 17.7 kg/m² and the BAI was 20.1%. The boys had lower BMI (0.01 less) and BAI (0.03 less) values. When classifying we see that 53% of the sample is "eutrophic", that is, ideal weight according to the BMI values (kg/m²). Likewise for the BAI (%). We observed that 62% of the sample is classified as "eutrophic". We conclude that the students from 6 to 11 years old enrolled from 1st to 5th grade in municipal schools in a city of Santa Catarina are mostly eutrophic.

- PublicationOpen AccessAnalysis of the opinions of early childhood education students on body language and expression(2024) Gámez Calvo, Luisa; Hernández Beltrán, Víctor; Castelli Correia de Campos, Luis Felipe; Gamonales, José M.Body language and expression is a fundamental tool for working on emotions and non-verbal communication. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to analyse the opinions on body expression of students of the Early Childhood Education teacher training degree in Extremadura (Spain). The sample was formed by eighty-four last-year students. The results show that the students do not consider that they have received the necessary training to use the contents related to body expression in their classrooms. In addition, the respondents consider that the educational centres do not give sufficient importance to body expression, as a result of the lack of material, lack of conditioning of the educational facilities and lack of time in the pupils' daily workdays. Therefore, the number of training credits in the field of body expression should be improved and increased, as well as the continuous and specific training of active education professionals.
- PublicationOpen AccessInfluence of physical activity on myopic Brazilian adults: A pilot study(2024) Dias de Jesus, Eduarda Eugenia; Rosa, Alexandre; Rodrigues, Luiz Henrique; Cortes Morales, Pedro JorgeThis study aimed to analyze the influence of physical activity on Brazilians with myopia. Sixty-three Brazilians with myopia participated. A questionnaire was used to identify the sample and the "Habitual Physical Activity Questionnaire" (HPAQ) was applied. In females, we found that the relationship of myopia with the night shift shows a moderate correlation (0.572) with a predominance of the right eye suggesting a higher incidence in this group. Sitting position at work shows a correlation as the inability to see at a distance, and this is a moderate correlation (0.585) for males. In view of this we see that there are other variables that can prevent the decrease of myopia, in which it is considerable to affirm that physical exercise alone is not enough for this population.
