Abstract
The response of the government to the problem of violence at school has had to wait until the mid-Nineties. These initiatives have arisen due to the work of research teams who, with small budgets, numerous hours of work and the support of foreign research teams have awakened the social conscience about the problem. Given the undeniable existence of violence problems, the government has started to respond by suggesting improvements in coexistence, which has become a differential characteristic with respect to other countries. At present, all Education Councils have education for coexistence as high-priority and are using it as a way to prevent violence at school. This article analyses the nature of the proposed interventions in the coexistence plans of the Education Councils of the Independent Communities and other Spanish public institutions.
