Description
Abstract
Introduction: Nowadays, scientific progress allows the evaluation of the different educational strategies and/or pedagogical models used in education. So why are educational methods not required to be based on scientific evidence or evidence? It is intended to present Evidence-Based Physical Education (EFBE) and its advantages and limitations. Methodology: A bibliographic review has been carried out to locate the origins of the EFBE from the MBE and its generalization to other areas of knowledge. Results: The EFBE implies the incorporation of the scientific method to the educational practice in a structured way, providing a modern and innovative conceptual framework for solving the problems that appear in the Physical Education (PE) classroom. This practice consists of a systematic process of searching, evaluating and using the results obtained in the investigation as one of the essential elements for decision-making in school contexts. This work explains the adaptation of the stages in the practical application of the EFBE, as well as the different advantages that this practice entails for both teachers and students. Discussion: The implementation of the EFBE is an efficient opportunity to incorporate the most updated scientific evidence into the educational practice of PE, in order to make the best possible decisions in combination with the teaching experience, accumulated experience and the particular characteristics of the student’ scenario in which they should be applied
