Abstract
Este artículo analiza la historia y la memoria de las revoluciones en diálogo con la obra de Enzo Traverso. Para ello se adentra en la crisis de la tradición revolucionaria en la actualidad, en especial tras la caída del muro de Berlín. También analiza cómo el concepto de “melancolía de izquierda” de Traverso supone una respuesta desde donde trabajar reflexiva y críticamente la relación con el pasado revolucionario sin caer en la nostalgia ni tampoco en la condena taxativa, lo que de paso servirá para repensar la relación entre historia y memoria. Finalmente, el artículo estudia cómo la muchas veces negativa memoria contemporánea de las revoluciones se explica por los nuevos marcos hegemónicos de la memoria, muchas veces más morales que históricos, y el papel central que han adquirido las víctimas y la violencia en los últimos tiempos.
Abstract: This article analyzes the history and memory of revolutions in dialogue with the work of Enzo Traverso. To this purpose, it delves into the crisis of the revolutionary tradition today, especially after the fall of the Berlin Wall. It also analyzes how Traverso's concept of “left-wing melancholy” is a response from which to work reflexively and critically on the relationship with the revolutionary past without falling into nostalgia or even into taxing condemnation, which incidentally will serve to rethink the relationship between history and memory. Finally, the article studies how the often negative contemporary memory of revolutions is explained by the new hegemonic frameworks of memory, often more moral than historical, and the central role that victims and violence have acquired in recent times.
