Description
Abstract
In this paper, we intend to show the effect of discourse of sexual difference, interrelated with other discourses (illustrated-liberal, conservative, socialist and anarchist), in creating the legal framework governing gender roles and the meanings of citizenship. Concretely, from the Uruguayan case, we analyze the construction of the meanings of the laws, the political and social practices, as well as of the political representation during the period in which there is consolidated the process of modernization and consolidation of the State (1903-1932).
