Description
Abstract
The “obesity war” has become the focus of western public health agencies and govern- ments. Such rhetoric holds fat people responsible for their inability to stay healthy. The alarmist tone of the biomedical discourse and some of its false statements about the dangers of fat have been ap- proached from various helping professions. Nevertheless, social work has hardly problematized fatpho- bic discriminations. This article tries to outline how to approach this problem from an anti-oppressive perspective.
