Description
Abstract
We explore the idea that identities are made narratively and propose a dialogue between the individual and collective dimensions of id entity using a narrative construction. Such a dialogue connects personal accounts with a shared history and the project of constructing the self with a desirable social construction project. This dialogue hosts a plurality of memories and perspectives and is based on the development of the ability to identify with others – an ability that literature helps develop. By using the methodological options available in the field of literary education and focusing on secondary education we explore how to favour thi s narrative construction of student identities with proposals for creative writing. From among the various options available, we focus on literature that connects ‘self’ and ‘the other’.
