- PublicationOpen AccessInsurrections populaires et démystification d'un ordre sociopolitique alternatif dans deux fictions.(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2019) Eyenga Onana, Pierre SuzanneA study of Nathalie Etoke’s Je vois du soleil dans tes yeux and Francis Bebey’s La Poupée Ashanti reveals that beyond the status of anecdotal novels that defnes them, it is, in depth, the postulation of a political change that mobilizes the two novelists in the depiction of a corrupt society. But what is the genesis of these popular movements? How and why are they literally represented? How, in fne, are political tensions managed by the local power and what aspirations then feed the actors in «order of battle» in the deciphered novels? To answer to this question, we use the sociocritical framework as implemented by Pierre Barbéris and Henri Mitterand. On that basis, we read novels throughout a triadic work plan. We frst question the nature of social unrest to show that the novel does not limit itself to expressing a meaning that is already there. Then, we prove that through the work of writing, it modifes the previous equilibrium of meaning so as fnally to refract and transform all at once, the social discourse in order to promote the living together policy.
- PublicationOpen AccessDe la marea granate a los "gilets jaunes": humánimos fraseológicos cromáticos.(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2019) Díaz Rodríguez, CristianIn this paper, we propose a study of Spanish and French phraseological units that denominate human entities (humanyms) whose structure follows this pattern: Noun + Chromatic Adjective: gilet jaune, casques bleus, camisas azules, marea granate. Considering the theories about phraseological meaning explicative model, proposed by L. Timofeeva (2008, 2012), and basing our analysis on the iconic models formulated by E. M. Iñesta and A. Pamies (2002), we propose a series of criteria that will permit to distinguish between nominal phraseological units used to qualify humans (idioms) and those that, on the contrary, create stable classes of referents (phraseological compounds). We will also analyze the role played by chromatic adjectives as a vector to carry the ethnocultural and idiosyncratic trace of the community of speakers that have created all these phraseological humanyms.

- PublicationOpen AccessLa biblioteca del Monasterio de El Escorial según algunos viajeros franceses del siglo XVIII.(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2019) Aguilá-Solana, IreneThis study is based on a corpus of texts by Vayrac, Saint-Simon, Silhouette, Beaumarchais, Peyron, Bourgoing, and Marcillac, which were published after their visit to Spain, and it analyses how these authors view and describe the Royal Laurentian Library of the monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial. These Age of Enlightenment authors tackle a wide range of aspects, such as the layout and decoration of the space, the features of the collection, or the attitude of the monks in charge of the works. While the travellers’ level of detail and rigour with regard to the library of El Escorial may vary, their accounts are nevertheless equally interesting since they reveal the different perspectives that they wish to convey to their contemporaries.

- PublicationOpen AccessMarcel Schwob, epistolario.(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2019) Ríos Romero, FranciscoThis article shows and analyzes the interesting correspondence that Marcel Schwob kept up with his family, friends and many writers with he stablished an epistolary relationship on account of his writing profession. Marcel Schwob had a relationship with the most prominent writers and artists in his time, among them, Verlaine, Mallarmé, Valéry, Claudel, Gourmont or Jarry; above all, it was an unrepeatable period for the literature and the art. It will make a special about all reference to R. - L. Stevenson because his works had an important infuence on Schwob who considered Stevenson as a master. The letters sent to his family and to Marguerite Moreno, with he married and who stayed with him to his last day, present a simple man, a close person with daily worries and suffering from a serious disease.
- PublicationOpen AccessSchubert, Juan Benet y la musica de la resignación.(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2019) Lascaux, SandrineThe literature of Juan Benet attempts to transport the reader beyond the bounds of reason by means of the arts, and most especially in the relation that binds it to music. Following Schopenhauer and Nietzsche who considered music to be the only art capable of transmitting pure affect without any intellectual mediation, Benet seeks the limits of language and effects persistent sentence modulations with a view to accessing the music of the soul. In this respect, his essay Door of the Earth elucidates the close affliation between his work and the “music of resignation” which defnes Schubert’s later work.
- PublicationOpen AccessLa relación epistolar de Claudio Magris y Biagio Marin.(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2019) Esteban Bernabé, Encarna; Facultades, Departamentos, Servicios y Escuelas::Departamentos de la UMU::Filología Francesa, Románica, Italiana y ÁrabeIn 2014, Garzanti publishes all the existing letters exchanged for 27 years by the Germanist and writer Claudio Magris and the poet Biagio Marin. The epistolary literature is a genre very close to psychology or even to philosophy, since in the written communication that is established between the interlocutors usually appears the deepest ego of each one of those involved. This is the case of the work that concerns us, Ti devo tanto di ciò che sono. Carteggio Magris-Marin. In these letters, the two great writers discuss philosophy, literature, theology, history and politics, while exchanging news and anecdotes of their own lives. Both the scholar and the curious reader will fnd in this work keys of understanding of the work of these two great men of the Italian letters.

- PublicationOpen AccessObservaciones sobre la expresión colocacional de la intensidad en "Beuve de Hamptone".(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2019) Blanco Escoda, XavierBasing on examples from the anglo-norman chanson de geste Beuve de Hampton, this paper emphasizes the importance of analysing the collocational expression of intensity in Old French. On the one hand, we observe the tendency of Modern French translations to massively introduce intensive collocations that are absent in the original text. On the other hand, we present and comment many examples of adjectival, adverbial and verbal collocations in Old French, as well usual and widespread collocations as idiosyncratic ones. We point out how the choice of certain collocatives allows to characterize an author’s style.
- PublicationOpen AccessEl uso de la erudición en las continuaciones argumentales de La Celestina.(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2019) García Valiente, Luis; Martínez Pérez, AntoniaThe present article analyses the use of rhetoric (especially of erudite fgures) in the sequels to La Celestina: La Segunda Comedia de Celestina (Feliciano de Silva, 1534), La Tercera Parte de la Tragicomedia de Celestina (Gaspar Gómez de Toledo, 1536) and La Tragicomedia de Lisandro y Roselía (Sancho de Muñón, 1542), in order to establish a comparison with each other as well as with the primal work. To do it, this analysis focuses on aspects such as the number and kind of erudite fgures, their accumulation and positioning, the characters who use them or the goals they aim at. Moreover, a few synoptic charts have been added to classify the named fgures in each one of the sequels for a better understanding of their scope and signifcance

- PublicationOpen AccessEl superestrato románico: la huella del español, del francés y del occitano en el siciliano contemporáneo.(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2019) García Fernández, JoséSicily has always been a territory under dispute by multiple peoples that eventually managed to mold the culture of the inhabitants of the island. As a result, the Sicilian language absorbed the language of the ensuing settlers, particularly Spanish and French. In view of this, this article addresses the analysis of the Spanish, French and Occitan traces, three Romance variants that, through the semantic superstratum, have had an impact on the linguistic confguration of the Sicilian language. With the focus on the dialectal lexicon used by the Palermitan writer, Giuseppina Torregrossa, in her debut novel, L’Assaggiatrice, this study confrms what previous specialized authorities on the feld observed in past times: that the Ibero-Romance and Gallo-Romance infuence have been, and still are, key to the shaping of the Sicilian language, a linguistic variant that is most frequently used in insular literature regardless of the growing social interest in standard Italian after the unifcation.
- PublicationOpen AccessLe roman epistolaire français au siecle des Lumieres.(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2019) Messina, LuisaThe eighteenth century is considered as the golden age of epistolary art. If we analyze the historical and social value of letters, we will notice that epistolary change soon becomes one of the principal ways of communication and of providing information. The most relevant merit, which is attributed to the epistolary novel, is the immediate reproduction that touches feelings. So, the epistolary novel removes the temporal distance existing between the personal history and its written reproduction. The most famous writers of the time (like Montesquieu) and libertine writers (Laclos and Sade particularly) have employed the epistolary novel showing several intentions.
- PublicationOpen AccessEgeria, testimone dello scambio epistolare tra donne nell'antichità cristiana.(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2019) Bartolotta, Salvatore; Tormo Ortiz, MercedesEgeria was a traveler of antiquity, mulier fortis, traveler of race. Her trip took her to the end of the world, with a double reason: historical and spiritual. She left his homeland, in the Spanish Gallaecia, to his community, the uenerabiles sorores, with the Bible as a guide on his way. For three years, at the end of the fourth century, it will travel through the Holy Land and the Near East with only one objective: the study of the Bible. The trip of Egeria is narrated in a manuscript called Peregrinatio Egeriae, found by Gamurrini in 1884 in the Italian city of Arezzo, which is actually a letter announcing a new literary style: travel literature.

- PublicationOpen AccessLa laisse CLXXXVII: estructura y motivos cómicos en la Chanson de Roland.(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2019) Navas, RogerThe structure of La Chanson de Roland has been deeply studied by many scholars; the debate surrounding “Baligant” is one of the recurrent topics. In this article, we focus on the laisse CLXXXVII, which is placed at the beginning of the episode, in order to reveal certain structural and semantic parallelisms outside of the framework of the authenticity discussion; we also describe the function of these parallelisms, especially the way in which they help the transition between the two halves of the Chanson; studying the purpose of these symbolic correspondences leads us to look into the existence of comical elements in the text. Accordingly, after a short introduction, the second section is dedicated to a formal analysis of the laisse, the third serves to contextualize it, reconstructing the temporal progression of the story, and, fnally, the fourth section studies this comical component and its elaboration on the laisse.
- PublicationOpen AccessNarrativa criminal escrita por mulleres: cinco novelas galegas.(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2019) López, TeresaCrime in Compostela was published in 1984 by Carlos G. Reigosa, considered the inaugural work of the criminal novel in Galician. Despite the relative editorial success of the genre, few women writers will cultivate it: the frst, Laura Caveiro, author of Polas inmensas e alleas fortunas (1995). This paper reviews the later contributions of Galician women writers to criminal narrative –Matei un home (2003) de An Alfaya, Sete caveiras (2014) de Elena Gallego, O faro escuro (2015) de María López Sández e Compostela Noire (2016) de Blanca Riestra–, to place them in relation to the clichés of the genre and with the defnition of archetypes of female (and male) characters.
