Abstract
The legends of folk treasures are text - based and / or literary constituting a recurring hypotext in many applications and speeches emanating from 2 information society. First, we analyse the notion of treasure in its broadest conceptualization, dec onstructing the idea and communicative and discursive treasures in light of new literacies and new cultural events. Second, we analyse treasure hunting or geocaching as methodologies for assimilation of the competences related to new literacies, and also a s way of recognizing the worth of literary, cultural and heritage actives implied to these practices. Then, geocaching would be an example of socialized practice, arisen in the context of the new cultural practices in the society of knowledge, hybridized w ith the new ways of tourism and shared entertainment. This also emphasizes that the concept of treasure implies a way of communication, related to oracles and ordeals in antiquity, and to treasure maps or book s in the contemporary imaginary, With a great e ducational potential.
