Description
Abstract
ABSTRACT: This article analyses the work of the Argentinian plastic artist Estela Pereda in Profesion: sus labores (Profession: her labours) and tries, operating critically, to put in relation her creations with feminist reflections, about gender roles and stereotypes, emphasizing in the kind of women and men’s work. On the other hand, and for inserting and contextualizing the proposal, the analysis mentions the historical interpretations that are related to the textile work and craftwork. The five selected works, and an old photograph, are a representative part of the installation, however, the reflection tries to go further the selection, and to use the display as an excuse to think about the women’s sewing and embroider work at home as “private” places.
