Description
Abstract
Our work connects the natural heritage with the network of national routes of the Programa Caminos Naturales, in which the popularly known Greenways are integrated, maintaining a suitable territorial approach to highlight the potential of this infrastructure by enabling access to leisure and joy in extensive rural and natural areas, while showing how undervalued and unusual are these areas are for tourism purposes. The objective is to put in value these routes in relation to the territorial heritage, at the regional level, using them as an initiative for the tourism activation in rural spaces. This way, we propose the definition of an ecotourism product taking as a case of study the Natural Paths of the rivers Tajo and Guadiana in Castilla-La Mancha. The applied methodology is based on the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as a tool for analysis, making possible the integration of variables of interest in the territorial planning of tourism, as well as the better communicability of results. We conclude by highlighting the advantages of adopting a geographical vision capable of giving territoriality to the tourist offer, as well as coordinating its use under a framework of sustainable and integral development, on a regional scale, around an infrastructure useful for territorial cohesion.
