Servicio de Publicaciones, 2006-07-01) Lozano, SaraThe purposes of this research is to adaptate and validate a career decision-making self-efficacy scale based on Taylor and Betz (1983), Career Decision-making Self-Efficacy Scale. It is a Likert scale with 30 items, the process adaptation and validations included one expert studio, two pilot studios and a confirmatory research which is presented in this article. The measure model was validated with a sample of 2.783 Spanish students aged between 14 and 18. The scale has an Alpha 0.91 coefficient. After making an exploratory analysis and tests the five factors, we did a confirmatory analysis using the Structural Equation Model methodology, with AMOS 4.0 programme. The results of the study support the theoretical hypothesis on which the model is based. We have a valid scale to assess career decision-making self efficacy to be used by researchers and counsellors to deepen knowledge in career counselling field through the Career Social-Cognitive Theory. - PublicationOpen AccessPracticum y carga de trabajo(Universidad de Murcia. Servicio de Publicaciones, 2006-07-01) Ruíz Gallardo, José Reyes; Valdés, Arturo; Castaño, SantiagoThe time which students devote to each course, but also to each task within a given course (e.g. study, bibliographic search and selection, contact classes, etc), is still an unknown element within the context of Spanish Higher Education. Nevertheless, the European Higher Education Area considers knowledge of student workload as essential. The importance of this knowledge increases in direct proportion to the number of credits assigned to each course. In the case of Magisterio (Teacher’s College), the practicum is the course with the most credits. In this study, the total amount of hours needed by 15 students to successfully complete their practicum has been controlled. Data collected includes: the total time devoted to the course; variation in hours throughout the semester and distribution of hours according to tasks. It is interesting to note that the average time devoted to the course falls within the limits proposed by the EU, although this limit was surpassed during certain periods; and that students employ almost half their time (48.53%) in the classroom. Also, the time devoted to consulting material on the internet is almost double that spent in the library.
