dc.description.abstract	El objetivo de este trabajo es la ciencia ficción lingü ística , entendida como un subgéne ro dentro de la ciencia ficción que s e ocupa de reflex ionar sobre diferentes aspectos del l enguaje . E n concreto, se lleva a cabo un estudio comparativo de las siguientes dos obras : Lengua materna , de Suzette Haden El gin , y La historia de tu vida , de Ted Chiang. El argumento de estas dos historias gira en torn o al relativismo lingüístico o hipótesis de Sapir - Whorf , que alude a la influencia del lenguaje en la concepción y percepción del mundo . En el caso de la primera novela mencionada , la aplicación de los postulados del relativismo lingüístico da como resulta do la invención de una lengua cuyo objetivo es transmitir las percepciones de las mujeres . En cuanto al segundo relato , aprender la lengua de los extraterrestres implica la modificación susta ncial de la concepción del tiempo por parte de la protagonista. P ero en ambas narraciones la lengua es presentada como un instrumento capaz de concebir una nueva realidad. Se trata, por lo tanto, de una defe nsa de las ideas transmitidas por el relativismo lingüístico, que , al margen de la atención que pueda recibir en el ámbito académico, demuestra ser un planteamiento muy atractivo para crear ficciones .	es
dc.description.abstract	The focus of this work is linguistic science fiction, understood as a subgenre in science fiction which reflects upon different aspects of language. Specifically, a comparative study is undertaken of the following works: “Native Tongue” by Suzette Haden Elgin and "Story of Your Life" by Ted Chiang. The plot of these two s tories pivots on linguistic relativism or the Sapir - Whorf hypothesis, which alludes to the influence of language in the conception and perception of the world. In the case of the first novel mentioned, the application of postulates from linguistic relativi sm results in the invention of a language whose objective is to transmit women’s perceptions. In terms of the second work, learning the language of extra - terrestrials implies the substantial modification of the conception of time by the protagonist. Howeve r, in both works, language is presented as an instrument capable of conceiving a new reality. It therefore concerns a defence of ideas transmitted by linguistic relativism which, apart from the attention it may receive in academia, proves to be a highly at tractive approach to fictional creation.	es
