Abstract
Abstract: When the roman noir appears in The United States in 1920s, it is quickly seen as one of the most mannish and violent forms of crime fiction. Since the detective is the main character of this kind of novels which are particularly representative of western patriarchal societies, the purpose of this article will be to study the way two women writers of the contemporary Belgian literary scene adopt this model in their novels in order to carry out a process of demythologization and suppression of this archetypal figure. Our corpus of study is based on seven texts by Nadine Monfils and Pascale Fonteneau, published by the “Série Noire”, the Gallimard collection devoted to crime novel.
