Description
Abstract
The notorious shortage, if not nullity, of medical dictionaries in in the Spanish-Arabic language pair and the subsequent difficulty that this phenomenon generates for the groups that are dedicated to this field (translators, teachers or students of medical translation, among others) are two well-proven aspects (cf. Sultan, 2019). As a consequence of this reality and with the aim of contribute, modestly, to cover a part of the gap observed in this regard, we offer in the study presented here a proposal for a Spanish-Arabic medical dictionary online. In this exploration we start from the following hypothesis: if there are computer programs whose objective is the creation of digital dictionaries, it would be possible to use any of these in order to propose a Spanish-Arabic medical dictionary. Consequently, our objective here lies in making available to the groups mentioned above a sample of a medical dictionary in the Spanish-Arabic language combination, and with a view to expanding it in the medium term. Thus, the conclusions exposed at the end of this study confirm our initial hypothesis. We wish, finally, to make explicit that the present study does not address lexical issues.
