Description
Abstract
The paper proposes an alternative explanation for the origin of a countermark stamped on copper coins from Santo Domingo that have been recently discovered during an archaeological investigation in Tenerife. The hypothesis is based on the confirmed fact that a similar countermark was used in the said time period to validate the circulation of these coins in the island of Cuba.
