Abstract
Este estudio explora el grado de conocimiento y manejo que t ienen los guías de turismo en su actividad profesional respecto al concepto de patrimonio cultural. Se presenta el análisis comparativo de encuestas realizadas en los años 2002 y 2024 a guías de turismo que trabajan en Santa Cruz, Patagonia austral. Se contempló la definición de patrimonio cultural, su pertenencia y cuidado, conocimiento de las normas jurídicas, impactos negativos sobre los bienes, entre otras variables. Los principales resultados señalan un avance en el manejo del concepto, de las normativas y su gestión. Asimismo, se dimensiona la pertinencia del análisis y evaluación de los servicios ecosistémicos culturales como herramienta para la conservación y manejo de los bienes culturales locales, siendo el turismo uno de ellos. Finalmente, se destaca el papel preponderante de los guías de turismo como replicadores del concepto y de la historia e identidad regional.
This study explores the level of knowledge and understanding that tour guides have in their professional activity regarding the concept of cultural heritage. It presents a comparative analysis of surveys conducted in 2002 and 2024 with tour guides working in Santa Cruz, southern Patagonia. The study considers the definition of Cultural Heritage, i ts ownership and care, knowledge of legal regulations, negative impacts on assets, among other varia bles. The main results indicate progress in the understanding of the concept, regulations, and their management. Additionally, the study assesses the relevance of analyzing and evaluating cultural ecosystem services as a tool for the conservation and management of local cultural assets, with tourism being one of them. Finally, i t highlights the prominent role of tour guides as disseminators of the concept, as well as regional history and identity.
