Abstract
En los últimos años, a nivel mundial
y especialmente en el Caribe, han ocurrido
diversas catástrofes naturales como
huracanes, terremotos, tsunamis, etc. que
han afectado muy fuertemente a diferentes
destinos turísticos principalmente costeros.
Ejemplo de esto son las afectaciones al
turismo en Cancún y otros espacios turísticos
litorales del Caribe insular por el paso
de los huracanes Iván (2004) Wilma (2005),
Dean (2007) y Gustav e Ike en el 2008.
Como consecuencia de los desastres ocurridos
y del incremento de la vulnerabilidad
de los territorios insulares, en Cuba se han
desarrollado diversas investigaciones encaminadas
a evaluar el papel de los peligros
naturales y antrópicos en las zonas costeras.
Abstract: In recent years, all around the World but especially in the Caribbean, there have been happening different natural disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunami, etc. which have damaged deeply various coastal tourist destinations. Examples of these disasters are Cancun and similar tourist destinations in the Caribbean after the devastation caused by the hurricanes Ivan (2004), Wilma (2005), Dean (2007) and Gustav & Ike in 2008. As a consequence of such disasters, different research has been developd in Cuba in order to evaluate the role of natural dangers on the coasts.
