Abstract
La infertilidad femenina representa el 40% de los problemas de fertilidad en una pareja,
siendo los trastornos ováricos los más comunes. Por esta razón, en este Trabajo Fin de
Grado se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica sobre la baja reserva ovárica ya que es
uno de los problemas más estudiados actualmente en este campo. Para ello, es esencial
el análisis previo de algunos aspectos que no son estudiados en el Grado en
Biotecnología, como el desarrollo de los gametos femeninos, su estructura y la
regulación hormonal del ciclo menstrual de la mujer. Además, en el trabajo se estudian
las causas descritas hasta la fecha y se hace una recopilación de las estrategias
diagnósticas disponibles en la actualidad. Así mismo, se abordan los posibles
tratamientos, concluyendo que ninguna de las opciones terapéuticas empleadas ofrece
una solución a la baja reserva ovárica. Sin embargo, el reciente descubrimiento de la
presencia de células madre ováricas ha supuesto una gran esperanza para mujeres con
este tipo de infertilidad y especialistas en medicina reproductiva, convirtiéndose en una
alternativa muy prometedora para dar solución a este problema.

Feminine infertility represents the 40% of the problems of fertility in a couple, being ovarian disorders the most common ones. For this reason, in this work it has been done a bibliographic review about low ovarian reserve because nowadays it is one of the most studied problems in this field. To this end, the analysis of some aspects which are not studied in the Degree in Biotechnology is essential, as the development of feminine gametes, their structure and the hormonal regulation of the menstrual cycle. Furthermore, the aim of this work is to study the causes described to date and do a recompilation of the diagnostic strategies available nowadays. The research also addresses the possible treatments, concluding that none of the therapeutics options offers a solution to low ovarian reserve. Nevertheless, the recent discovery of stem cells in the ovary has supposed a hope for women and specialist on reproductive medicine, becoming a promising alternative for giving solution to this problem.
