Abstract
Desde el siglo XIII, numerosos
viajeros han acudido a visitar Caravaca y su
Cruz. En 1998, se concedió el Año Jubilar «in
perpetuum», de forma que cada siete años
y con carácter permanente, los peregrinos
pueden ganar el Jubileo. Paralelamente, la
ciudad del noroeste murciano ha conocido
un desarrollo de las infraestructuras como
nunca en su historia se había producido.
Gracias a estos dos factores se esboza un
futuro halagüeño en Caravaca, que sin duda
va a contribuir al desarrollo de la actividad
económica en la misma y a que por tanto, la
Ciudad Santa se consolide como alternativa
y complemento al tradicional modelo turístico
de Sol y Playa.
Abstract: Many travellers have come up to visit Caravaca and its Holy Cross since the 13th century. In 1998, the Vatican conceded the Jubilee «in perpetuum». As a result of this, every seven years and forever, pilgrims are able to get the Jubilee. Likewise the Murcian Northwestern town has reached a development in its infrastructures as it has never been before. Thank to these two factors, Caravaca faces a bright prospects which undoubtedly will give rise to a further development of economic activity at the Holy – Town, so that can be consolidated as real alternative to traditional Sun and Beach tourism model.
