Abstract
Se presenta un conjunto de resultados producto de la aplicación de técnicas de análisis
espacial mediante Sistemas de Información Geográfi ca sobre el yacimiento de Begastri y su
entorno, combinando el enfoque topográfi co con el arqueológico para ofrecer una visión
integrada del valor geoestratégico, económico y político de la ciudad antigua sobre el valle del
Argos y Quípar. Mediante un repaso a la geografía circundante y a la evolución del poblamiento
en la comarca del Noroeste durante la Antigüedad, se ha generado un cuerpo cartográfi co
local combinando la información generada por el Instituto Geográfi co Nacional y la Carta
Arqueológica de la Región de Murcia, con el objetivo de incorporar a la producción científi ca
del yacimiento una nueva perspectiva orientada a la relación entre espacio geográfi co, paisaje y
ocupación cultural del territorio en la Antigüedad .
A set of results is presented as an outcome of the application of spatial analysis techniques through Geographical Information System software used on the Begastri site and its surroundings, combining the topographical and archaeological approach to off er an integrated vision of geostrategical, economic and political values of the ancient city of Begastri and the Argos valley and Quipar. By means of a review of the surrounding geography and the evolution of the historical settlement in the Northwest region during the Antiquity, a local cartographic body has been generated combining the information generated by the National Geographic Institute and the Archaeological Chart of the Region of Murcia, in order to incorporate a new perspective oriented to the relation between geographic space, landscape and cultural occupation of the territory in the Antiquity to the scientifi c production of the site.
