Description
Abstract
Con objeto de conocer la potencia estadística de las investigaciones publicadas en Anales de Psicología a lo largo de su existencia (1984-1991), se ha analizado la potencia de las 16 investigaciones publicadas en la revista susceptibles de este tipo de cálculo. Los resultados no parecen diferir de los originalmente obtenidos por Cohen (1962);
The aim of this paper was to determine the statistical power of the resean:h published in the joumal Anales de Psicología across its life (1984-1991). The sixteen studies avalaible for this calculation were used for analyzing their statistical power. The results do not seem to differ from those originally obtained by Cohen (1962), showing average powers óf .13, .4?, and .76 for sntall, inedium, and large effect sizes, respectively. Also, the mean power for the estimated effect sizes from the proper studies increased to .71, very close to the mínimum of .80 recommended by Cohen (1988). Finally, the nsults are compared to other recent power studies.
