Abstract
Las villae constituyen los restos materiales más característicos del paso romano por la península Ibérica. Estas
fueron esenciales para su modo de vida, por tanto, su conocimiento es fundamental para comprender este
momento. Durante el siglo IV d.C., en occidente se preludia el fin de este periodo. Lejos de la desaparición,
algunos de estos lugares sufren transformaciones internas para afrontar el nuevo contexto general y mantenerse con continuidad, constituyéndose en algunos casos grandes puntos que controlaban su territorio circundante. Así, en este artículo se llevará a cabo un análisis general de dicha centuria en el área occidental desde la perspectiva de la villa, reflejando causas y consecuencias de estos cambios y abordando este momento en varios ejemplos de villae murcianas: Los Villaricos, Los Cantos y Los Cipreses.
Villae constitute the most characteristics material remains of the roman passage throught the Iberian Peninsula. These where essential for their way of life, therefore, their knowledge is fundamental to understand this moment. During the IV century A.D., the end of this period was heralded in Occident. Far from disappearing, some of these places suffer internal transformations to face the new general context and maintain continuity, constituing in some cases big points that controlled their surrounding territory. Thus, in this article a general analysis of said century in the western area will be carried out from the perspective of the villa, reflecting causes and consequences of these changes and approaching this moment in several examples of murcian villae: Los Villaricos, Los Cantos and Los Cipreses.
