Abstract
La aldea de La Murta está situada al pie de la Sierra de Carrascoy, en el Campo de Murcia,
aunque limítrofe con la comarca del Campo de Cartagena, con la cual ha mantenido tradicionales vínculos
sociales, económicos y culturales. Este artículo explica la actual festividad de la Santa Cruz y
sus posibles orígenes, siendo de interés la antigua cruz de piedra tallada y reparada por los canteros
murteños entre el último tercio del siglo XIX y mediados del siglo XX. La Cruz es adornada con plantas
silvestres
La Murta village is located at the base of Carrascoy mountains, in the Murcia countryside,although neighbouring of the Cartagena countryside, wich have had social, economic and cultural tra-ditional links. This article expounds the current festivity of Sacred Cross and their probably origins,being interesting the ancient stone cross carved and repaired by the murtan’s stonemasons between thelast third of the 19thcentury to the middle of the 20thcentury. The cross is adorned with wild herbs.
