The Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) has been highlighting for 35 years that there is another way to teach…because there is another way to learn. Its creation and its inclusion into the Spanish University system in 1972 meant a daring innovation, which has made it possible for thousands of students to get university degrees that would not have been achieved in institutions with full time classroom courses. In the organization of its teaching system, tutorial support sessions are a crucial element. The methodological change which is demanded from the EHEA is due to the conception of the Society of the Knowledge as a learning society in which the student (person-who-learns) is the core and the reference for any educational intervention. Therefore, the tutorial sessions at the UNED are facing new challenges, just as the rest of tutorial models of full time classroom Universities. |
