This study critically analyses Eurocentric thinking and its use in curriculum theory, understood as a dominant, colonialist, inflexible and homogenising way of thinking. Therefore, curriculum theory is at best paralysed and bureaucratised, when not deprived of its critical purpose and also its social and educational analysis purposes. In view of this, an itinerant curriculum theory is supported here—by returning to the initial ideas of Huebner, Deleuze and, especially, Sousa Santos—which will lead to new ways of seeing and thinking about education. Deterritorialising curriculum theory means favouring differences, epistemological openness and diversity. Only in this way will curriculum theory be able to be a source of emancipating education. |
