Child perspectives on growing up with gender-based intimate partner violence at home
(Universidad de Murcia. Servicio de Publicaciones, 2021) Miranda, Jenniffer K.; Rojas, Carolina; Crockett, Marcelo A.; Azócar, Estrella
Growing up in the context of gender-based intimate partner violence (IPV) has been associated with mental health problems in children yet little is known about IPV effects on children from their own point of view. The aim of this research was to understand the psychological impact associated with living in an environment with IPV, from the perspective of children. Semistructured interviews were conducted with 3 boys and 5 girls, between 8 and 12 years old, who were attending psychosocial programs specialized in maltreatment and experimented different forms of chronic IPV at home. The interviews were analyzed using narrative analysis. The results show that growing up in an environment with IPV has a psychological impact on children’s emotional wellbeing and family relationships, and in some cases on their self-concept. We conclude that IPV experiences had a profound impact on the participants’ wellbeing, affecting various areas of the children’s lives. The results highlight the importance of understanding the effects of IPV from the children’s perspective, in order to develop clinical interventions in accordance with their needs.

"My life is not going to have any meaning". Personality and vulnerability to depression in Spanish youth
(Universidad de Murcia. Servicio de Publicaciones, 2021) López-Mora, Clara; González-Hernández, Juan
Adolescents are a group at risk of developing depressive disorders, faced with a multitude of psychosocial circumstances and the resources available to meet vital needs. The risk of depression is associated with high avoidance of harm, low selfdirection, and low persistence. The aim of the work was to explore the differences between various personality profiles on elements of depressive process (presence of distress and absence of eustress) in adolescents. The presence of depression was evaluated through the Multicultural Inventory of Depression and personality through the Temperament and Character Questionnaire in a total of 229 participants, (n = 121 males) (M age = 14.79; SD = 1.61). The exploratory cluster analyses showed the existence of 3 adolescent profiles based on temperament and character, being those adolescents with low persistence and self-transcendence, with high self-directedness, harm avoidance and rewards dependency who showed the highest indicators of depression. Specifically, significant differences were found in distress scores with adolescents in profile 3 having the highest indicators of state distress (F (224, 4) = 21.73; p < .01) and trait (F (224, 4) = 23.00; p < .01) with respect to adolescents in cluster 1 and cluster 2. In addition, they also had significantly lower scores on the indicators of eustrés state (F (224, 4) = 11.59; p < .01) and trait (F (224, 4) = 12.31; p < .01). The discussion focuses on the usefulness of Moscoso and Coninger's theories as frameworks for understanding the processes of acquisition, and risk of depression in adolescents.

Validation of a brief version of the Inventory of Life Factors Interfering Grief and Complicated Grief (ILFIGv2)
(Universidad de Murcia. Servicio de Publicaciones, 2021) Villacieros, Marta; Sánchez, Patricia; Bermejo, José-Carlos; Magaña, Marisa; Rodil, Valentín
There are some life circumstances that can interfere with a normal mourning process. In order to identify these factors, the Inventory of Life Factors Interfering Grief and Complicated Grief (ILFIG) was first published in 2017. The present study aims to validate a briefer version of the questionnaire, the ILFIGv2. In this second version, the six dimensions of the questionnaire (Guilt, Inheritance, Economy, Sexuality, Immortality and Sense of presence) were hidden, and the items were reduced to 24. With a total sample of 248 respondents, a sixfactor structure was tested. Confirmatory factor analysis model obtained reasonable goodness of fit indices: χ2(237) = 383.409, p < .001; CFI = 0.984, TLI = 0.981; RMSEA = 0.050, 95% CI [0.041 – 0.059], providing validity evidences based on the internal structure of the test. Validity evidences based on the relation with other variables were also provided by external criteria correlation. Regarding reliability, all the subscales of the ILFIGv2 obtained Cronbach’s alpha and omega coefficients above .70 and .80, respectively. A brief version of ILFIG has been validated. It heralds a potential means to prevent and avoid grief lengthening, as it can measure unexpressed aspects which, according to grievers, demand attention.

Spanish research in Educational Psychology from a gender perspective (2008-2018)
