Educational interactions between adults and children are essential in any learning process, but have a crucial role in early childhood education. Given the importance of the quality of the interactions in early childhood education for the well being, development and learning of children, we present a proposal for analyzing children's living experiences and adult style, through child and adult engagement scales. These observation tools are particularly useful for training, professional development and improvement of teachers pedagogical practice. In this article the observation scales' contribution to training in context is evidenced through a series of testimonials from educators who, by reflection and attention given to child experience and their own style, experienced professional development and consequent improvement in the quality of their interaction and on the educational offer.

This article presents a case study conducted with a view to understanding future professors' assessment of the educational role of science popularisation activities by scientists. An event coordinated by the CERN has been analysed, in which a student audience was acquainted with research production processes in particle physics. Through the prism of a sociological analysis, comprehension of the future professors' senses and objectives when approaching popularisation activities is discussed, along with the educational aspects they consider to be acquired in the interaction with scientists. This article is a part of a larger research project devoted to the analysis of the discourse by scientists and students. It studies how cultural perspective training may be relevant for understanding that these practical activities are related to culture, thus treating science popularisation as a relevant tool for acquiring scientific knowledge and training compulsory education students.

(2016-04-26) Gioppo, Christiane; Soares Marques, Sonia Regina; Soares Marques, Sonia Regina; Vertelino Marques, Cristiane
In west Brazil an Environmental Programme was established to fulfill environmental requirements as well as assist vulnerable communities affected by a huge engineering project.  The main goal was to mitigate environmental problems resulted by the highway construction.  One action accomplished (among many) was to put through an in-service Teacher Professional Development Programme with a group of indigenous people of Terena Ethnicity.  This paper presents the Programme that occurred in a native village in the State of South Mato Grosso and discusses one lesson that arose from it.  First we portray the group of Terena teachers who were collaborators on the Programme, then we present the theoretical background that uses two concepts: Culturally Responsive Teaching (Gay, 2000) and Resistance (Adorno, 1980; Benjamin, 1994).  After describing the grounds of the Teacher Professional Development Programme we proceed to a more detailed description of the creation process of a lesson, the mermaid one.  We finish with some considerations and discussion about the professional learning processes.

In our educational system, the development of the current curricular model based on competencies poses new demands on science teacher training, in which the processes of reflection on practice can play an important role. In order to combine both aspects, a training program for in service secondary science teachers is presented. It aims is to improve the teaching of scientific competence and classroom work from context-based science teaching approaches. The reflection processes, at individual and group level, experienced by some of the participating teachers are analyzed. And, finally, some facilitators and some obstacles to implement the development of scientific competence from the approaches raised are identified.
