- PublicationOpen AccessConsumers’ behavioral interests and sports services: Examining customer loyalty in Indonesian fitness centers(Servicio de Publicaciones. Universidad de Murcia, 2025) Pratama, Budiman Agung; Herpandika, Reo Prasetiyo; Weda; Kurniawan, Wing Prasetya; Puspodari; Maesaroh, Siti; Muharram, Nur Ahmad; Sin departamento asociadoThe development of the fitness industry in the world is increasing and has become an important issue in several countries, including Indonesia. Currently, the number of fitness participants in Indonesia has increased. An increase in fitness participants must be accompanied by an improvement in service quality, as poor service could risk a decrease in participants. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between perceived quality, the perceived value of customers' satisfaction, and future intentions in Kediri town. The sample consisted of 59 customers in 18 fitness industry centers. The data collection used a questionnaire technique, and the data analysis was based on the confirmatory factors and structural equation models. The research findings showed that the perceived satisfaction of clients greatly influences the value of loyalty and the location greatly influences the customers' future intentions. Furthermore, there was a positive relationship between customer satisfaction and location factors with loyalty and future intentions. Perceived future loyalty and intentions influence customer satisfaction and the perceived importance of location in the fitness center. Consequently, perceived value positively affects both consumer loyalty and their future intentions.
- PublicationOpen AccessDiagnosis of the release phase in the discus throw relative to elite throwers’ height(Servicio de Publicaciones. Universidad de Murcia, 2025) Azab, Mahmoud; Zureigat, Ayed A.; Fattah, Osama Abdel; Sin departamento asociadoThe aim of this study was to quantify the correlation between the thrower’s height and the release height ratio. Furthermore, an estimated equation was provided for predicting the optimal release height of the discus based on the thrower’s height. To achieve these goals, a descriptive approach was applied to a sample of 30 top discus throwers who achieved a horizontal displacement of more than 61 m. The results showed a statistically significant relationship (p < 0.05) between the thrower’s height and the release height ratio. In addition, an estimated equation was developed for predicting the optimal release height of the discus relative to the thrower’s height: release height (m) = -46.121 × thrower height (m) + 175.66. These findings suggest that thrower height plays a meaningful role in determining the optimal release height, providing practical guidance for coaches and athletes to improve discus throw performance.
- PublicationOpen AccessIdentification model of 12 year-old boys’ badminton talents(Servicio de Publicaciones. Universidad de Murcia, 2025) Hidayatullah, Muhammad Furqon; Doewes, Rumi Iqbal; Purnama, Sapta kunta; Sin departamento asociadoTalent identification of in badminton was needed as a prediction of the future performance of young players who will achieve success at the national or international level in badminton. The aim of the study was to establish a model for identifying badminton talent in 12-year-old boys. An observational design was used. The sample included 29 boys aged 12 years with no prior badminton experience and 29 boys who were members of a badminton club. All participants completed eight anthropometric tests and 16 physical fitness tests. The differences results between two groups were used as criteria for 12-year-old boys’ badminton talent. To determine the best talent predictor, a stepwise discriminant analysis was performed. Based on stepwise discriminant analysis, 11 measurements (four anthropometric and seven physical fitness) were identified that maximally discriminate between talented and non-talented badminton players. Using Fisher’s linear discriminant functions based on these 11 measures, 98.3% of participants were correctly classified, indicating high validity. The distinguishing characteristics between talented and non-talented players included BMI, total skinfold thickness, arm circumference, arm length, upper limb muscle power, speed, side-to-side agility, 4-corner agility, VO₂max, wrist flexibility, and eye–hand coordination. Among these, four anthropometric tests and six physical fitness tests were particularly effective in differentiating between talented and non-talented players.
- PublicationOpen AccessThe impact of anthropometric characteristics and playing experience on the success of African women’s volleyball teams(Servicio de Publicaciones. Universidad de Murcia, 2025) Asrat, Berhanie; Sin departamento asociadoThis study aimed to evaluate the influence of anthropometric characteristics and playing experience on the success of African women's volleyball teams. The researcher purposively included all 12 teams that participated in the 2019 World Women's Volleyball Championship. Among these, two national women's volleyball teams were from Africa (Cameroon and Kenya), while the other ten teams were from different continents. Each team consisted of 14 players, with an average age of 25.95±4.296) years. Anthropometric characteristics such as height, weight, BMI, spike height, and block height of players, as well as their playing experience (calculated as the total number of World Championships, Olympic Games, and other international competitions), and the teams’ success rank data were collected via electronic sources from the official FIVB website for comparison purposes. The results showed that the two African women's volleyball teams (Cameroon and Kenya) had players with below-average values in height, spike height, and block height compared to other world teams. A significant difference was also observed in BMI results compared to other world volleyball team players (p < 0.05). They also showed an extremely lower average value in playing experience than other world team players. Similarly, they ranked last among all teams, and their success was influenced by their anthropometric characteristics and game experience. Therefore, for the success of African women's volleyball teams, the anthropometric characteristics and playing experience of players should be considered among the selection criteria.
- PublicationOpen AccessGhanaian women in sports: Barriers and strategies for improving participation in sports leadership positions in Ghana(Servicio de Publicaciones. Universidad de Murcia, 2025) Apaak, Daniel; Kyekyehene, Stephen Addae; Nayasama, Jude Domokyile; Adasa, Abena Nkrumah; Sin departamento asociadoThe study explored the barriers that hinder women's participation in sports leadership in Ghana and the effective strategies to overcome the obstacles. Interpretivist research paradigm was adopted. Sample frame was made of women leaders in Ghanaian sports organizations. Data was collected using interview guides, and analyzed with the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The study revealed that institutional barriers and individual mindsets of women in sports were among the most significant factors limiting women’s leadership involvement. The study emphasized that promoting girls’ education and fostering a broader shift in organizational culture can lead to increased female representation in professional sports organizations. In conclusion, further quantitative and qualitative research is needed to understand why women’s participation in sports leadership is not adequately reflected in current legislation or outdated sports policies.
