- PublicationOpen AccessAnalysis of the risk factors of gender-based violence and resilence strategies of women in Lamu, Kenya(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2023) Fernández Quiroga, Ana; Cárdenas Rodríguez, Rocío; Terrón-Caro, TeresaAccording to the World Health Organization (2018), gender-based violence is a global phenomenon that affects more than a quarter of women around the world. Despite the promulgation of a multitude of regulations against gender-based violence, it is estimated that more than 40% of women who suffer violence do not report it (ONU, 1979, 2017; Unión Africana, 2005). This study aims to identify and encourage strategies to counter gender-based violence in Indigenous women od Lamu, Kenya. In this work, we adopt thesocial justice perspective developed by Young (1990) to ask how the gender-based violence legislative reforms of the last few years in Kenya have affected indigenous women, what resilience strategies they have developed, and whether these strategies couldbe integrated into institutional actions. To this end, a field study was developed in Lamu(Kenya), where we conducted in-depth interviews with indigenous women and key agents. We concluded by establishing a relationship between the lack of female participation and the barriers that still exist in gender-based violence administration that silence and revictimize indigenous women (Maqueda, 2008). We also emphasize the importance of rejecting the passive image of women and incorporating the resilience strategies they have developed in education and work (Salvador, 2015; Piotti, 2015; Hambry, 2005).

Servicio de Publicaciones, 2025) Rebollo Catalán, María Ángeles; Pulido Moreno, María; Vega Caro, Luisa; Sin departamento asociadoLa violencia de género se manifiesta a edades cada vez más tempranas, afectando de manera grave al desarrollo educativo en la infancia y adolescencia. Organismos internacionales advierten del importante papel que juega la educación formal y el profesorado no solo para la prevención y sensibilización sino también para una detección precoz y una actuación responsable. El objetivo principal de este trabajo es conocer las competencias del profesorado en materia de violencia de género. El estudio se apoya en la fenomenología feminista para profundizar en las formas de razonamiento práctico del profesorado. Se realiza una investigación cualitativa basada en grupos de discusión en la que participan 25 docentes de Educación Primaria (14 en formación, 11 en activo). Se aplica un análisis fenomenológico interpretativo. Los resultados revelan cinco competencias clave en el abordaje de la violencia de género en entornos educativos: concienciación, comprensión, detección, acompañamiento y diligencia, mostrando el profesorado carencias en cuatro de ellas. La falta de conciencia y comprensión del fenómeno, así como el desconocimiento de protocolos y su pronta aplicación, condicionan una actuación efectiva. Destacan positivamente el posicionamiento de algunas docentes con formación especializada. Se discuten las implicaciones prácticas para la formación del profesorado.
- PublicationOpen AccessResilience and associated factors in women survivors of Intimate Partner Violence: a systematic review(Universidad de Murcia. Servicio de Publicaciones, 2022) Fernández Álvarez, Natalia; Fontanil, Yolanda; Alcedo, ÁngelesMost research on Intimate Partner Violence against women (IPV) has tended to present women as passive victims, but in recent years, there has been an increase in studies adopting a strengths-based approach. The aim of the present study is to review the empirical literature about re-silience in women survivors of IPV to (a) analyze the consensus on the definition and assessment of resilience; (b) study the correlates of resilience; and (c) reflect on the applicability of such knowledge in policies and pro-fessional practice. Following PRISMA guidelines, a systematic search was carried out in the Scopus, WoS and PsycINFO databases. The search yield-ed 42 articles published in English or Spanish over an unlimited timeframe. Results showed that process-oriented, trait-oriented, and outcomes-oriented definitions of resilience were all adopted in the research and that assessment methods also differed across studies. Individual, relational, and contextual factors were found as resilience correlates. There is a need for a theoretical consensus and for research on the mecha-nisms through which vulnerability or protective factors exert their influ-ence on groups with specific risk conditions. Finally, governments and in-stitutions should take actions to support women and children and to pre-vent future IPV.
