Abstract
Este artículo analiza la influencia de Friedrich Nietzsche en la poesía de José Santos Chocano dentro del modernismo hispanoamericano. Se examina la apropiación de conceptos como el superhombre, el vitalismo y la voluntad de poder para sustentar una poética épica que integra lo hispano y lo indígena. El estudio contextualiza esta relación mediante la recepción de Nietzsche en autores peruanos contemporáneos. Finalmente, el análisis de “Blasón” revela la ambivalencia de Chocano entre el impulso emancipador y la fascinación por el poder, reflejando las contradicciones de su propuesta de identidad americana.
Abstract: This article analyzes Friedrich Nietzsche’s influence on Jose Santos Chocano’s poetry within Hispanic American Modernism. It examines how Chocano appropriates concepts such as the Ubermensch, vitalism, and the will to power to construct an epic poetics merging Hispanic and indigenous elements. The study contextualizes this relationship through Nietzsche’s reception among contemporary Peruvian authors. Finally, an analysis of the poem “Blason” reveals Chocano’s ambivalence between emancipatory impulses and a fascination with authority, reflecting the contradictions inherent in his proposal for a new American identity.
