Description
Abstract
This work focuses on the analysis of the composition and the mode of inclusion of the otherness in the discourse of the travel narrative, in other words the referential texts endowed with the pivotal patterns and the prototypes specific to a foreign universe. To organize a textual fabric is to frame the point of view and to reformulate previous models. This assimilation of the Other to the same from recognizable and known landmarks and milestones is made through prefabricated, pre- constructed, pre-requisite and reducer molds in the receptive culture. We try to focus on the prototypical motifs of the narrative of travelers of the nineteenth century in the East, starting from the question of stereotypy, axiology, and that of otherness. This helps us to translate the otherness of the Other with the familiar terms of self-expression that encompass the work of integration, assimilation and comparison.
