Abstract
El espacio territorial que forman las ciudades de Alicante y Elche junto con los municipios
limítrofes, están desde hace años en un proceso de metropolitanización, que es frenado por las
complicadas relaciones de vecindad que mantienen las ciudades principales y por la inhibición
de la Generalitat Valenciana.
Desde el ámbito de la Generalitat Valenciana no se ha mostrado un apoyo a la evidencia de
esa realidad metropolitana, ya que en el desarrollo de los distintos procesos de planificación
no se ha mantenido una línea coherente, una vez que desde la misma Generalitat se había
colaborado en el aborto del Proyecto del Triángulo Alicante-Elche-Santa Pola.
El último ejemplo, de esta política incoherente de planificación de la Generalitat
Valenciana, se ha producido con el anunciado proceso de ordenación del transporte interurbano
de viajeros en autobús en la provincia de Alicante, en el que se pierde la oportunidad de
implantar una Autoridad del Transporte Público bien en el Área Alicante o bien en el Área
Alicante-Elche.
