Description
Abstract
The preserved corpus of the second book of Lucilius’ Saturae includes a fragment (74 M) that contains the word pedicum, defined by the transmitting gloss as “vicium mollitiae”. Nonetheless, the meaning remains uncertain, since this passage is the only record of the term. This paper reviews the proposals of Marx and Stowasser, in order to assume one of them in particular and analyze the consequences of this choice.
