Abstract
El presente trabajo se dedica a estudiar un conjunto de medallas labradas en las Provincias Unidas de los Países Bajos (actualmente englobadas en el Reino de los Países Bajos) en el siglo XVII. Las piezas fueron producidas en el marco de la llamada “Guerra de los ochenta años” que las enfrentó al imperio español y recrean un episodio relevante de este conflicto: la captura de la “flota de la plata” por parte del almirante holandés Piet Hein.
Abstract: This paper is devoted to the study of a set of medals struck in the United Provinces of the Netherlands (now part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands) in the XVII century. The medals were produced in the context of the so-called “Eighty Years’ War” against the Spanish empire and recreate an important episode of this conflict: the capture of the “silver fleet” by the Dutch Admiral Piet Hein.
