Description
Abstract
ajenos a ella.
One of the functions of the port complex rioplatense was successfully provide a wide range of goods and services necessary for the maintenance of vessels that visited and crews, both during his stays as return trips. The port complex was able to meet these demands and meeting them in the eighteenth century led to relative prosperity for the elite and for sectors outside it. This paper analyzes the economic participation of carpenters, shipwrights, blacksmiths, Lamplighters and other workers in the fairing and frigates caulking post in Montevideo, in order to ask what could have been his participation in the process of emancipation; thinking priori that while the Crown would generate demands could not be found widespread social unrest causes economic reasons but, however, it seems that the general level state and people in Montevideo followed his elite in the revolutionary process.
