El trabajo aquí presentado trata de abordar la im
portancia del estudio de los troqueles
empleados durante los procesos de acuñación monetaria, así como las marcas presentes en los
mismos, una inestimable y poco estudiada fuente de información que, al igual que las monedas
y las medallas, nos pueden aport
ar datos de gran relevancia no sólo a nivel técnico, sino también
histórico acerca del funcionamiento de las grandes Casas de Moneda y sus prácticas. En este
estudio en particular, abordaremos dos piezas realizadas por el tallador Manuel Torres en la
Casa
de Moneda de Santiago de Chile.
The present work aims to study the dies used for the different coin minting processes and their marks. They represent an inval uable but poorly studied source of information that, together with coins and medals, can provide significant technical and historical data on the day - to - day operations and common practices of the great mints. In this particular study, we will study two pie ces made by the carver Manuel Torres in the Mint of Santiago de Chile.
