Julio Cortázar, hijo de su tiempo: apuntes sobre el contexto histórico-cultural de su poética

Abstract

Este estudio plantea una reconstrucción del contexto histórico-cultural en el que se comienza a desarrollar la poética del escritor argentino Julio Cortázar. Para ello se recorre la primera mitad del siglo XX prestando especial atención a los movimientos de vanguardia artística que tanto influyeron en su escritura. El artículo se divide, así, en tres epígrafes que distinguen, en primer lugar, una época marcadamente iconoclasta en la que tiene lugar el auge surrealista; en segundo lugar, el período de postguerra, más reflexivo, en el que se desarrolla el movimiento existencialista; y, por último, un apartado en el que se explicita la relación de esos años con Hispanoamérica y con la figura y la obra de Julio Cortázar. Tanto la división estructural del artículo como la periodización histórica son de carácter claramente metodológico, y no creemos necesario advertir en el texto que éstas no se dan ni mucho menos de forma neta, sino que los distintos movimientos artísticos, los acontecimientos históricos y las realidades nacionales sufren trasvases frecuentes y fecundos, como puede comprobarse leyendo al escritor "cosmopolita" que fuera y es Julio Cortázar.

This study proposes a recon- struction of the historical-cultural context in which the poetics of the Argentine writer Julio Cortazar begins to develop. For this, the first half of the twentieth century goes through paying special at- tention to the artistic avant-garde movements that influenced both his writ- ing. The article is thus divided into three epigraphs that distinguish, first of all, a markedly iconoclastic era in which the surrealist boom takes place; Second, the post-war period, more reflexive, in which the existentialist movement develops; And finally, a section that explains the relationship of those years with Latin America and the figure and work of Julio Cortázar.
