Abstract

Résumé: Ce travail porte sur la version en espagnol que D. Manuel Arnillas a faite en 1841 du roman Cinq-Mars d’Alfred de Vigny. Publié en 1826, Cinq-Mars est le seul roman historique du poète romantique, avec lequel il a inauguré ce genre narratif en France, demeurant dans le sillage de Walter Scott. Cet article offre une analyse traductologique de cette intéressante version, qui met en relief les ajouts, les suppressions et les variations du texte espagnol face au texte original, afin d’élucider la méthode de traduction et les techniques employées pendant le processus de traduction.

Abstract: The present paper deals with Manuel Arnillas’s translation into Spanish (1841) of Alfred de Vigny’s novel, Cinq-Mars (1826). Cing-Mars is the sole historical novel that the romantic novelist, De Vigny, wrote in his lifetime. This novel would begin Romanticism in France, following the trend already established in Europe by Scottish Walter Scott. The primary goal of this paper is to submit Arnillas’s translation into a translational analysis —laying especial emphasis on additions, omissions and modifications in the Spanish text with respect to its original— to understand the translational method and techniques the translator has employed throughout the process of translating.
