Una aproximación a la gestión ambiental en alojamientos turísticos: el caso de los hoteles boutique y 3 estrellas del barrio de Palermo. Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Abstract

La industria hotelera en sus distintas clasificaciones y categorías puede contribuir en la sostenibilidad de los destinos turísticos. Si bien varios establecimientos llevan adelante acciones de gestión ambiental (GA) hotelera y hasta incluso obtienen certificaciones o ecoetiquetas, se observa en ellos la necesidad de ampliar la cantidad de buenas prácticas (BP) ambientales. El estudio de caso se realiza en el barrio turístico de Palermo, ubicado en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, durante fines del 2022 y mediados del 2023. Para el diseño metodológico, se elige una muestra total de 21 hoteles del lugar, todos aquellos de categoría boutique y/o 3 estrellas, a fin de relevar las actuales acciones relacionadas con los ejes de uso de la energía, cuidado del agua, manejo de residuos y capa citación en educación ambiental, para en consecuencia, identificar y sugerir aquellas posibles prácticas a incorporar en los establecimientos de referencia, considerando sus especificidades y categoría.

The hotel industry in its different classifications and categories can contribute to the sustainability of tourist destinations. Although several establishments carry out hotel environmental management (EM) actions and even obtain certifications or ecolabe ls, there is a need to expand the number of good environmental practices (BPs). The case study is carried out in the tourist neighborhood of Palermo, located in the City of Buenos Aires, during the end of 2022 and mid-2023. For the methodological design, a tot al sample of 21 hotels in the area is chosen, all those of boutique and/or 3 -star category, in order to survey the current actions related to the axes of energy use, water care, waste management and training in environmental education, to consequently iden tify and suggest those possible practices to be incorporated in reference establishments, considering their specificities and category.
