Antonio Ramos, maestro arquitecto de la diócesis de Málaga. La iglesia de San Antonio de Padua de Alpandeire.

Abstract

A través del presente trabajo pretendemos abordar el estudio documentado del proyecto constructivo relativo a la iglesia de San Antonio de Padua de Alpandeire (Málaga). Esta obra se incluye dentro de la generalizada iniciativa diocesana de reformar, en la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII, la arquitectura de muchos de sus templos parroquiales. El encargado de ofrecer las trazas del nuevo edificio no fue otro que Antonio Ramos, maestro mayor de la catedral y referente entonces, casi absoluto, en la dirección de otros inmuebles religiosos del territorio jurisdiccional. Las claves históricas del proceso ayudarán a comprender mejor la realidad de un inmueble dotado de una excesiva monumentalidad para la población que lo acogía, sin desdeñar el análisis pormenorizado de los elementos estructurales y ornamentales en sus paralelos comparativos tocantes a otras intervenciones del arquitecto.

Through this paper we intend to address the documented study of the construction project related to the Saint Anthony of Padua’s church in Alpandeire (Málaga). This work is included in the generalized diocesan initiative to reform, in the second half of the 18th century, the architecture of many of its parish temples. The person in charge of offering the traces of the new building was none other than Antonio Ramos, master builder of the Cathedral and then, almost absolute, in the direction of other religious properties of the jurisdictional territory. The historical keys of the process will help to better understand the reality of a property endowed with excessive monumentality for the town that welcomed it, without disregarding the detailed analysis of the structural and ornamental elements in its comparative parallels that concerning other interventions of the architect.
