Narrative identity theory suggests that the subject understands and makes sense of them-selves by telling their experience narratively. This makes it easier for them to reflectively plan their actions and make sense of them with respect to their life history. However, the Narrative theory of identity does not understand that intelligibility occurs during the interaction, but rather by narrat-ing it before and after the interaction. This paper presents as an alternative the Dramatic theory of identity that helps narrative theory to face on the difficulties of making sense when the subject acts. This dramaturgical-acting approach is able to offer a new explanation of the intelligibility during action thanks to the Three stages of action |
