Abencenif en el Libro de agricultura de Alonso de Herrera

Abstract

Los trabajos previos que se han ocupado de la presencia de Abencenif en el Libro de agricultura se han efectuado sin haber manejado los testimonios directos herrerianos. Por ello, se han analizado todas las menciones al geópono andalusí en las seis primeras impresiones del Libro de agricultura. Paralelamente, se han cotejado estos testimonios tanto con el manuscrito que contiene la versión romance del Compendio de agricultura de Ibn Wāfid como con la traducción castellana del original árabe. El examen ha permitido valorar la importancia temática y el influjo de tal ascendencia.

The presence of Abencenif in the Libro de agricultura could not have been carried out without having directly handled the Herrerian editions. For this reason, all the mentions of the Arabic agriculturist in the first six prints of the Libro de agricul- tura have been analyzed. At the same time, these testimonies have been compared both with the manuscript that contains the Castilian version of Ibn Wāfid’s Compendio de agricultura and the Spanish translation of the Arabic original. The analysis has made it possible to assess the thematic importance and of its influence.
