El interculturalismo, tema de nuestro tiempo

Abstract

El presente artículo habla de los estadios diferentes por donde ha pasado la humanidad en el ámbito del interculturalismo. Se trata de una división personal del autor, sin más pretensiones que aclarar conceptos. ¿Es el interculturalismo tema de nuestro tiempo en el sentido orteguiano? Sí, se responde. Porque es la síntesis de dos grandes aspectos que caracterizan a su vez a nuestro siglo. La globalización y su revulsivo, el identitarismo. En efecto, interculturalidad significa apostar por la igualdad como meta común de todos y aceptar la diferencia de cada individuo, sociedad y cultura. Homogeneización y diversidad sin renunciar a la igualdad de derechos y deberes de todos. Dos en uno. Se añade la siguiente acotación: imposible separar interculturalismo de lucha por el desarrollo, porque no se pueden dar la mano dos sujetos sin antes darse la solidaridad de los bolsos. Si la persona humana es un complejo de biología y de pensamiento, no se concibe aceptación de mentes sin aceptación de cuerpos que se han de alimentar antes de poder pensar. Desde aquí se derivan consecuencias para el mundo de la educación y de la enseñanza, de los planes de estudio y de los currículos en general.

This paper outlines the different stages through which the humanity has gone in the field of inteculturalism. It is a personal division by the author, which only aims at clarifying concepts. Is interculturalism a topic of our time in the Orteguian sense? Yes, it is answered because it is the synthesis of two big aspects which characterise our century: globalisation and it opposite, indentitism. In fact, interculturality means committing one self to equality, as a common goal for all. Two in one. The following comment is added: it is impossible to separate interculturalism from fighting for the development, because two people cannot shake their hands without having previously agreed on mutual economic support. If the individual is a complex mixture of biology and mind, it is not conceivable to accept minds without accepting the bodies that need to be nourished before being able to think. From this point consequences can be drawn for the world of education and teaching, for the corresponding curricula.
