Boxing as a literary subject has a crucial representation in the scene of literature written in Spanish. Many of the greatest Spanish and Hispanic American writers of the 20th and 21st centuries have published literary works of different genres with boxing as their central theme. In addition, within the framework of the journalistic chronicle on boxing, there is an interesting field of research for the literature that is related to the traditional article genre. However, academic studies that investigate the nexus between boxing and literature are scarce compared to the literary production on the topic. Therefore, the 20th century is marked by a shortage of academic studies on this subject. Although the study of the relationships between literature and sports in the Hispanic panorama has experienced an increase in the 21st century, this tendency has not occurred in the case of boxing as a literary topic. This article aims to review and combine the existing academic bibliography on the relationships between literature and boxing in the Spanish and Latin American scene, to establish a starting point for future research. |
