[EN] This article is an attempt to locate the anti-nihilist thought of Dostoevsky in its real context. It focuses on the reaction of the Russian author against his contemporary Chernyshevsky, which has its beginning between 1861 and 1864. The novels of this period are usually considered the turning point towards maturity and focus their reflections on some philosophical topics. Dostoevsky’s opposition to Chernyshevsky’s positivism, based on utilitarianism and intelligent egoism, has been chosen here. The contemporary authors have evaluated Dostoevsky’s thesis from a clear sympathy for his position against revolutionary radicalism or positivism. This line usua-lly makes a gap between the theoretical writings and novels. However, this article aims to present the arguments of the two Russian authors from a more neutral perspective. From this point of view the aim has been the connections between Dostoevsky’s literary project and his political and religious thought that leads to what is called here the “destruction of reason”. |
