Some educational scenarios show a marginal reality that is not always perceived. Photography constitutes an ad hoc method to capture both the investigative process and the experiences and points of view of the students, allowing to know the reality of students in vulnerable situations, the promotion of interculturality and the detection of conditions or circumstances that influence the perpetuation of social exclusion, in order to improve the starting situation. To intervene in this situation, a qualitative research was carried out with a total of 118 students from the third cycle of the Primary Education stage. A series of exercises based on photography were carried out as the main tool for creation and expression. The project was focused from visual research based on the Arts, using photographs as a means of exhibition and transmission of information, being able to capture the main data of the process and the results through images. This proposal served as a pretext to trigger new actions and socio-educational implications that not only directly influenced the students, but also went beyond the school walls.

Predictors of attitudes about people with intellectual disabilities: empathy for a change towards inclusion
(Taylor and Francis, 2022) Mirete, Ana B.; Belmonte Almagro, María Luisa; Mirete, Lucía; García Sanz, María Paz; Métodos de Investigación y Diagnóstico en Educación
Social change towards inclusion is a very common topic, but progress is slow. Because of its importance in the current educational context, knowing how to speed up this transformation is fundamental. A multiple regression analysis with a transversal quantitative designed survey (n = 245) was conducted. The aim was to identify internal and external factors predicting attitudes towards people with intellectual disability in undergraduate students at the University of Murcia (Spain). According to the expected estimate, the variables ‘empathic concern’ and ‘chosen degree’ predict good attitudes towards people with intellectual disability among university students. On the other hand, external variables such as ‘previous knowledge about disability’ or ‘contact with people with disabilities’ are not explanatory factors. These findings contribute to the existing knowledge about predictive variables for attitudes towards people with intellectual disabilities in the future Spanish education professionals.
