El tratamiento del refugiado en la prensa española a través de la imagen fotográfica: un análisis cuantitativo

Abstract

En el presente artículo se analiza desde una aproximación cuantitativa la representación de las personas refugiadas en la prensa española . Como metodología se ha utilizado la teoría de encuadre o framing relacionando tanto las noticias como la s fotografías representativas de las mismas. Tras un recorrido por el estado de la cuestión de los estudios sobre refugiados y el marco teórico, se hace mención a la metodología utilizada a partir de un formulario en el que se identifican el número de noti cias y de fotografías en relación con el periódico y la autoría, la geolocalización, denominación del refugiado, relación género y número de refugiados en las fotografías, análisis formal de las imágenes y, por último, se ha contrastado la temática de la f otografía y de la noticia. En los resultados observamos que en muchas ocasiones no existe una relación equivalente entre lo que se lee y lo que se refleja como imagen del refugiado.

This article analyses the representation of refugees in the Spanish press from a quantitative point of view. The framing theory has been used as a methodology, relating both the news and the representative photographs. After an overview of the st ate of the question of refugee studies and the theoretical framework, mention is made of the methodology using a form in which the number of news items and photographs are identified in relation to the newspaper and the author, geolocation, nam ing of the r efugee, gender relationship and number of refugees in the photographs, formal analysis of the images and, finally, the subject matter of the photograph and the news item has been contrasted. In the results we observe that on many occasions there is no equi valent relationship between what is read and what is reflected as the image of the refugee.
