Resumen: | José Enrique Gargallo Gil
, Profesor titular del Departamento de Filología
Románica de la Universidad de Barcelona
, en una entrevista concedida a la
revista en línea
tiempo.com
el 14 de abril de 2014,
afirma que «no
debemos extrañarnos de que ya no
surgen nuevos refranes
José Enrique Gargallo Gil , Full professor at the Department of Romance Philology of Barcelona University, during an interwiew with the online magazine tiempo.com , on 14 April 2014, stated that « we must not be surprised if there are no new meteorological proverbs » in a period in which the news about weather forecasts is provided by all kinds of media. This lack of vitality, which is due to the lack of usage, is reflected both in the oral and the written language : in the weather news we find online, proverbs are seldom used. The aim of this essay, then, is to offer an overview of the frequency of their usage in the written Language, but also of the contexts in which they occur, which are sometimes unconnected with meterology, starting from the data taken from newspaper articles of different kinds in Italian and Spanish. On most occasions, the meaning of the proverb can be deduced from the context in which it appears. This is now evident in newspaper texts, in which we can find a sufficient number of examples of the hypothesis formulated in this article. |
