La identidad murciana proyectada por el museo de la Ciudad de Murcia: según sus visitantes y docentes de Historia

Abstract

La diversidad de identidades que (con)viven en las comunidades posmodernas del siglo XXI deriva en la generación de unas complejidades sociales que suelen generar multitud de desajustes, conflictos y problemas identitarios debido a la cada vez mayor mezcla de personas de orígenes distintos gracias al impulso de los fenómenos migratorios y a las exigencias de la sociedad posindustrial. La sociedad del municipio de Murcia es buena prueba de ello, pues en su término municipal uno de cada tres residentes procede de otros ámbitos distintos al del municipio de referencia. Este trabajo final de máster pretende indagar alguno de los fenómenos más visibles asociados al proceso de identización poniendo el foco en el ámbito local murciano con el propósito de deducir el tratamiento identitario que prevalece en el imaginario colectivo. Para ello, se ha recurrido a dos tipos de muestra: visitantes del museo histórico y etnográfico de referencia para la historia e identidad de la ciudad: el de la Ciudad de Murcia, y profesores de Historia de Secundaria. Dos motivos explican esta combinación de participantes: la estrecha vinculación entre identidad, historia, ética y educación patrimonial; y la ventaja de calibrar, matizar y comparar resultados. Interesa conocer cuáles son los referentes identitarios y estereotipos de mayor prevalencia, en base a qué criterios se construye imaginariamente la inclusión o exclusión de caracteres y vínculos de pertenencia y si este museo contribuye activamente a asumir una función transformadora de la realidad y de agente de cambio social. Para ello, se ha empleado una metodología mixta a partir de enfoques cuantitativos no experimentales y cualitativos, para describir, comparar e interpretar los datos conforme a las ventajas de la triangulación metodológica. Se ha aplicado preferente un análisis descriptivo con el objetivo de inferir una representación del fenómeno en estudio (percepción de la identidad murciana). 5

Los resultados concluyen la prevalencia de una noción identitaria basada en la singularidad, especificidad, exclusividad y autenticidad de rasgos que no valora con la importancia requerida los fenómenos de la realidad social tales como los de interculturalidad, hibridación y mestizaje ciudadano. El Museo de la Ciudad de Murcia podría llegar a convertirse en un espacio de gran potencial educativo y transformador tanto social como de las mentalidades de la ciudadanía local, aunque para ello, debería alterar su política expositiva puesta al servicio del mantenimiento del orden social y la repetición y proyección de estereotipos basada en un tratamiento identitario reduccionista y excluyente.

The diversity of identities live in the postmodern communities of the XXI century derives in the generation of social complexities that often generate a multitude of imbalances, conflicts and identity problems due to the increasing mix of people of different origins thanks to the impulse of migratory phenomenon and the demands of post-industrial society. The society of the municipality of Murcia is good proof of this, because in its municipality one of every three residents comes from other space to the reference. This master's thesis aims to investigate some of the most visible phenomenon associated with the complex process of identification of Murcia local nature in order to deduce the identity treatment that prevails in the collective imagination.

For this, two types of sample have been used: visitors of the historical and ethnographic museum of reference for the history and identity of the city: that of the City of Murcia and professors of high school. Two reasons explain this combination of participants: the close link between identity, history, ethics and heritage education; and the advantage of calibrating, refining and comparing results. It is interesting to know which are the most prevalent identities and stereotypes, based on which criteria the inclusion or exclusion of characters and links of belonging is imaginatively constructed and if the museum actively contributes to assume a function of transformation of reality and agent of change social. In this sense, a mixed methodology has been used from descriptive non-experimental and qualitative quantitative approaches to describe, compare and interpret the data according to the advantages of methodological triangulation. A descriptive analysis has been applied preferentially with the aim of inferring a representation of the phenomenon under study (perception of the Murcian identity) from the most visible 6

external manifestations that emanate from the personal and subjective consideration of visitors. The results conclude the prevalence of an identity notion based on the singularity, specificity and authenticity of traits that do not value with the required importance the phenomena of the social reality: interculturality, hybridization and miscegenation. The Museum of the City of Murcia is a space of great educational potential and untapped transformer because its exhibition policy lends itself to the maintenance of social order and to the repetition and projection of stereotypes based on the traditional identity dimension instead of using its potentialities to contribute to a real social transformation as well as the mentalities of the local context.
